Weaving in Nauvoo

September 03, 2014  •  1 Comment

When we visited Nauvoo this past summer there was a family center where you can learn the art of bread making as it would have been for the early pioneers, rope binding, rug weaving, general tapestry, barrel making and other fun stuff. This was a picture I took of the rug weaving while visiting the center. I love the different fabrics and colors that give it a unique look and its incomplete state. The frame holding the weave was just as neat - one large wooden circle frame. I have only seen rectangular frames in comparable sizes.

The fact that the fabric strips are shown up close makes this lost art even more worthy of admiration...the time and effort it took can be appreciated because of how you captured this...just beautiful.
